Shocking news! Actress Go Hyun Jung had a fight with the producer and decided to drop the series. She has been replaced by Park Jin Hee, who appeared at the end of episode 16. They even changed the poster.
Going back to the very first Korean drama I watched! Although this is a 2002 drama, I watched it in 2004. At the time, I was living in Japan and that’s when Winter Sonata landed there: I can’t even find the words to say how crazy it was.
I didn’t name this post “first impressions” because I’m already halfway… There’s not so much happening, but I’ve been watching one episode after another quite quickly and I’m not getting bored at all. So far, this is a really good drama.

After watching the final episode of Black Knight yesterday, I felt kind of weird. So I went online to look for other viewers’ reactions. Many people were angry, disappointed, sad… but I couldn’t find any comment similar to how I was feeling.
I admit I tend to hesitate to watch a drama when I don’t know the main actors. At first, I really wasn’t sure I would like Go Hyun Jung and Lee Jin Wook. But after watching 8 episodes (actually 4 since they’re 30 minutes), I think I’m in!

Really, I am surprised that I’m still really enjoying this drama. I think I might be suffering from some kind of Kdrama PTSD caused by Bride of the Water God and Black: two promising fantasy series that started off really strongly (at least in my opinion), went down gradually and left us with a ridiculously disappointing finale. The excitement I felt at the beginning of these two series was similar to what I felt at the beginning of A Korean Odyssey. So I braced myself, ready for disappointment.

Historical dramas often have appropriately powerful and epic music—especially when fights and injustice are involved! Although this OST is quite short (one album and one single), it’s definitely one of my favorite drama soundtracks of all time.
It seems that this drama is very popular (at least in Korea) at the moment. But… I just don’t get it. I’m really trying, but I really can’t get into it. Still, I’m hanging on and I’m not dropping…
